ANNOUNCEMENTS 07/09/17

Good morning and welcome to the services of Immanuel Baptist Church!

“The Burning Torch”

Among the ancient Greeks, the runner who won the race was not the man who crossed the line in the shortest time, but the man who crossed it in the least time with his torch still burning.

We are often so busy with life’s activities that we are in danger of allowing the torch of our spiritual life to go out.

A good woman once said that in the rush ad hurry of her life she felt in danger of being “jostled out of her spirituality”.  There is a real danger of being too busy to be good; of running too fast to keep our torch burning.

For those who are visiting today, thank you for being here.  May the love of God draw us all closer to Him and to one another.

ANNOUNCEMENTS 07/02/17

In Philadelphia, on July 4, 1776, fifty-six men put their names on The Declaration of Independence, and in signing that document, two hundred forty-one years ago, they said, “We hereby pledge our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor,” and many of them gave all three.  Four times in that document they made specific reference to our dependence upon God for protection and provisions if this republic were to survive.  By the way, among those fifty-six men, there was not one single atheist.  There was not one agnostic.  Every one of them believed in God.  This is a Christian nation.  Do not be ashamed to stand at attention and place your hand over your heart when our flag passes.  Do not apologize for getting teary-eyed and a lump in your throat when you hear “The Star Spangled Banner.”

It may be old-fashioned, but love America—“God bless the Land that I love.”

PRAYER REQUESTS 06/30/17

*Brother Gary has still not been feeling well, so his cardiologist sent him to the hospital today to have a heart cath done.
Following the procedure, it was determined that he needed a stent. The stent was inserted, and the procedure was a success. He is resting comfortably tonight at the hospital under observation, and will most likely come home tomorrow.
Please keep Bro. Gary and Janet in your prayers. He’s already wanting Janet to go get the sermon he’s been working on, so that’s definitely a sign he’s doing well.
* Continue to pray for Bro. Hosea Harrington who is still in Rehab but doing better.
*Continue to pray for the Roger Hobson family, as he is not well.
*Ed Pickell started his continuous Chemo this week.  Keep him and Mrs. Sharon in your prayers.
